Royal Uno Resort in Cancun is definitely one of the most exceptional properties in Cancun and one of our favorite family resorts in Mexico.
If you’re planning a family vacation in Mexico, this resort is a great option. It features updated rooms, delicious dining options, nightly entertainment, and a beautiful beachfront. Plus, it’s conveniently located just fifteen minutes from the Cancun airport. I must admit, I’ve never been this impressed with a resort before.

The location of Royal Uno is an advantage for travelers as it is situated in Cancun’s Hotel Zone. This makes it a convenient choice for those who are tired of taking long rides from Cancun International Airport to resorts that are far away.
At Royal Uno, guests can reach Cancun’s famous beaches and turquoise waters within just 15 to 20 minutes. Additionally, the hotel’s location provides easy access to other popular attractions like Museo Maya de Cancun, which is a short walk away and is an impressive Maya archaeological museum.
You can have a great time without leaving the Royal Uno property. The resort offers various activities, dining options, and entertainment that can cater to different age groups. Moreover, the resort has a pleasant environment with a refreshed decor, attractive design, and ample natural light. The stylish use of wood furnishings and accents throughout the resort adds to its inviting ambiance.
The rooms at Royal Uno have exquisite decorations that reflect the natural beauty of the surrounding area, including the turquoise blue of the sea, rich coral colors of the ocean floor, and the natural woods of the region. This beautiful color scheme and design can be found throughout the resort, not just in the rooms.
Families have multiple options for rooms. The Authentic Uno Suite is their basic option, featuring two queen beds and space for two adults and two children. Alternatively, the Uno Suite can accommodate up to four adults with a king-size bed and two Murphy beds.
The Uno Suite includes a generously sized living area with two Murphy beds. For those traveling with a large group, consider the Uno Grand Suite which accommodates 6 adults and 2 children, and features two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In addition, many of the resort’s rooms can be interconnected for bigger families and all rooms come with balconies.
If you’re looking for a luxurious family experience, you may want to consider reserving an Uno Beachfront Suite with a plunge pool. This suite includes a bedroom, a big bathroom, a roomy living area, a patio space, and a plunge pool. You’ll have convenient access to the beach and the hotel pools.
Royal Uno in Mexico offers some of the best dining experiences with four restaurants, two snack bars, a rooftop bar, and a sports bar. Miamare serves Mediterranean cuisine with dishes like Carpaccio di Polpo (octopus), Risotto Nero (risotto with squid and black squid ink), gnocchi, pizza, and pasta. Don’t miss the beautiful sunset view from Miamare.
Aora is a restaurant at the hotel that serves not just Teppanyaki, but also Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisine. You can enjoy sushi rolls, pad Thai, and tikka masala. If you love to try new foods, this is the place for you. And definitely try the teppanyaki! Additionally, Palotinte is a Mexican restaurant with a variety of dishes like empanadas, enchiladas, and tacos. On some evenings, they have a special taco carving station that goes around the restaurant.
The property has a buffet restaurant called Os that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unlike typical all-inclusive buffets, Os offers fresh, creative, and delicious meals. In addition, there is a snack bar by the pool that serves wings, hot dogs, pizza, and tacos all day. The Star Bar® is a fantastic rooftop terrace that serves ceviche and delicious cocktails.
Faro 32 Coffee Shop operates 24/7, serving coffee and quick bites all day and crepes during regular hours. Kukul Cantina is a sports bar with big screen televisions and a pool table that opens in the late afternoon and early morning. You can enjoy evening drinks with sunset views at this location. Additionally, if you prefer to remain in your room, 24-hour room service is available for your relaxation needs.
The resort offers a modern fitness center and Alea Spa for adults. Alea Spa includes a hydrotherapy circuit with a plunge pool and sauna. Guests can enjoy massage services, various facial and skin treatments, and a beauty salon for hair and nails. It is recommended to schedule some time to visit the spa during your stay.
Like many all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, this resort offers scheduled daily activities available for all guests. Activities include pool volleyball, ping pong, and family-friendly races.
If you and your family want to explore beyond the property, just head across the street to Puerto Maya Cancún. They offer an unforgettable day trip with their Mayan Jungle Tour. The tour begins with a traditional Mayan ritual and a speedboat ride. Then, families can snorkel through the mangroves to the Nizuc Reef for some of the best snorkeling in Cancun. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you can enjoy a delicious Mayan lunch. This activity is suitable for all ages.

The Uno Kids Club features both an indoor play area as well as an outdoor covered playground for children. Additionally, there are daily activities such as arts and crafts and board games, as well as a foam pit for kids to enjoy. Located nearby is also a children’s pool and water play area, which is sure to keep kids entertained for hours.
The Cancool Family Room is a great area for families with older children to enjoy. They can have indoor family time while playing video games, foosball, and board games, and participating in daily activities. Additionally, there are two large swimming pools, a water sports area with kayaking and sailing options, and a lovely beach with ample loungers and beverage service.
Although I’m usually not interested in nighttime entertainment at all-inclusive resorts because they usually have mediocre performers, I highly recommend Royal Uno’s evening shows. During my stay, I watched a fantastic circus show one night, and a breathtaking fire show on another. The performers were incredibly talented, making both shows truly spectacular. Make sure you don’t miss the fire show!
Royal Uno Resort, Mexico is a newly opened all-inclusive resort in Cancun, launched in June 2022. It is one of the Royal Resorts in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area and located on a strip of land overlooking both the Caribbean Sea and the Nizuc Lagoon. All of the rooms and suites at the resort boast an ocean view, and some may also offer a view of the pool deck, depending on their building location.

✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.
🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.
🚙 Cancun Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.
🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.
🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.
📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.
☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
