Royal Haciendas Playa del Carmen
The Royal Haciendas is an all-inclusive resort located on the north end of Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya Mexico. It has a bright yellow exterior and overlooks the Caribbean Sea. The resort offers junior, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites with private balconies that have ocean views. The suites have ample living space and include TVs with DVD players. Guests recommend opting for more spacious suites with private whirlpool tubs and full kitchens.

The Royal Haciendas is an all-inclusive resort located on a white-sand beach with views of Cozumel island. It is situated 3 miles north of Quinta Avenida, which is Playa del Carmen’s main shopping and dining area. The resort provides bikes for guests to use and can arrange for car hire through their concierge service. Local attractions such as the Tulum ruins and El Rey Zona Arqueológica are located within 50 miles of the resort.
The hotel is located about 32 miles to the south of Cancun International Airport (see map here). You can arrange for airport transfers for a fee. The on-site travel desk offers off-site excursions for which you need to pay. There is free 24-hour valet and self-parking available. The airport shuttle and car service are also available, but for a fee. No major airport in Playa del Carmen.
You can walk to a bus stop, many restaurants, a movie theater, a train station, a beach, the subway/metro stop, and several grocery stores.
The Royal Haciendas offers three suite styles: Deluxe Junior, One-Bedroom Deluxe and Two-Bedroom Deluxe Master suites. All the suites have traditional decor with tile floors, wooden furniture and beige and brown linens. They have kitchenettes and balconies with ocean views. The One- and Two-Bedroom suites have more space, kitchens, dining tables, two-person whirlpool tubs, and separate living rooms with Murphy beds.
The resort offers free Wi-Fi for all guests, and the Two-Bedroom Deluxe Master Suites are equipped with dual sinks in their master bathrooms.
The standard room measures 451 square feet and comes equipped with premium channels, a workspace/desk, minifridge, bathrobes/slippers, minibar, and a shower/tub combo. We also offer guest rooms with patios and balconies, as well as adjoining rooms upon request. Internet access is available, including wireless and complimentary options. Please note that there may be a fee for internet usage.
The Royal Haciendas has a total of six pools, which include two lap pools and two kids pools. Two main pools with swim-up pool bars, four Jacuzzis, and select pools with infinity edges are available for guests to use. Although there are no adults-only pools, some hot tubs are reserved only for adults. All pool decks are equipped with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and hammocks. Guests can find extra seating, a volleyball court, and complimentary water sports equipment such as paddleboards, snorkeling gear, and kayaks, at the beach.
Most pools offer poolside service, have a lap pool along with a wading pool, lazy river, family pool, adults-only pool, and an infinity pool. Scuba diving and snorkeling excursions can be arranged for a fee as well. There is also a whirlpool/hot tub and a waterslide to enjoy. Additionally, you can relax on the deck chairs or cabanas while grabbing a refreshing beverage from the pool bar. There will always be a lifeguard on duty to ensure safety.
At The Royal Haciendas, there are two restaurants: Los Murales and La Palapa del Sol. Los Murales serves local fine dining cuisine, while La Palapa del Sol has themed buffets every day such as Mexican, Italian, and Barbecue. If you want quick bites, there are two Sol y Luna Grills and a sushi bar by the pool. You can also grab cocktails at one of the two swim-up pool bars.
The all-inclusive rates cover all meals and drinks or beers, and there is a 24-hour room service available for free. Additionally, there are gluten-free and vegetarian menus offered. There is also a convenience store located on the premises.
The property has 2 restaurants offering buffet, Asian, Italian, American, and Mexican cuisine types. The dining options include fine dining, casual dining, quick service cafe/coffee shop, marketplace, and bar/lounge. Room service is also available, including 24-hour room service and free breakfast.
The Spa at The Royal Haciendas has many facilities such as treatment rooms, a beauty salon, sauna, Jacuzzi, and steam room. It offers a variety of treatments including massages, facials, body wraps, and hair and nail services. There are also additional specialty spa options available such as prenatal massages, men’s facials, couples treatments, and a unique fish spa experience with garra rufa fish.
You can schedule massages either on the beach or in your room. Note that spa services are not included in the all-inclusive rates. Apart from massages, we offer facials, body treatments such as scrubs and wraps, and salon services. Our treatment area includes an outdoor option, steam room, and sauna.
The fitness center at The Royal Haciendas has professional trainers to help with workouts, as well as free weights and cardio and weight-training equipment. Complimentary fitness classes like Zumba, yoga, Pilates and water aerobics are offered, and there are tennis and beach volleyball courts on-site. You can also borrow tennis racquets, kayaks and paddleboards for free from the sports desk. Occasionally, there are tennis clinics and tournaments available.
At The Royal Haciendas, kids who are 3 years old or younger can stay for free. Kids aged 4 to 17 can get discounted rates on rooms. The on-site kids club, which offers supervised activities such as beach games, scavenger hunts, and arts and crafts projects, is included in the property’s all-inclusive plan for kids aged 4 to 12. There are also evening programs like pajama parties and kids discos on some occasions.
The hotel offers a Kids Club that is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It includes video games and outdoor sports competitions for teens. Guests can enjoy complimentary use of bicycles and water sports equipment such as paddleboards and snorkeling gear included in the room rates. Babysitting services are available for a fee. There are two kids pools available on-site, as well as free and fee-based options for the Kids Club. Cribs and high chairs are also available.
The Royal Haciendas offers an all-inclusive package that includes unlimited access to the resort’s two restaurants, bars, and various on-site facilities such as six pools, whirlpools, three tennis courts, and non-motorized water sports equipment. However, we have mixed mixed feelings about the customer service. While some have found the staff to be pleasant and accommodating, others have felt that the customer service was not up to the mark compared to other resorts in the area.

🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Mexico. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!
✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.
🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.
🚙 Cancun Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.
🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.
🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.
📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.
☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
