Panama Real Estate Guide

Boasting an abundance of reasonably priced real estate, Panama is the perfect destination for expats, retirees and digital nomads!

Best Beachfront Real Estate in the World

Panama is fortunate to have oceans on two of its four borders: the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Panama has some of the best beachfront real estate in the world, including islands with quiet, peaceful seas and fine white sand. Some are large enough to draw surfers from all over the globe, while others feature gray or black sand and a steady wave pattern.

There are several beachside complexes along the Pacific coast. People often throng to this region, particularly city-dwelling Panamanians who can afford it for a weekend beach home break. In areas like Bocas del Toro and Colón, the Caribbean is endowed with gorgeous islands and the Caribbean way of life. In Panama, you may find what you’re searching for in either the Caribbean or the Pacific.

Here are some of Panama’s top coastal properties that you should consider if you are planning to buy a house.

1. Pedasí

As one of the greatest retirement destinations in Panama, Pedas is our top pick for beachfront real estate. Azuero is home to the little fishing hamlet of Pedas, which is about five hours from Panama City. There are several beaches in this town, including the primary four: Venao, Los Destiladeros, El Toro, and El Arenal, as well as numerous more. In this town, you may purchase a home and join a wonderful, tight-knit neighborhood. The community in this traditional town includes expatriates. You may commute to the beach by bicycle or foot from your home. There are many of activities available, including surfing, snorkeling, inland trekking, and adequate infrastructure and internet. Pedas is situated inside the dry arc of Panama, therefore there is less humidity there and the temperature fluctuates from the mid-70s to the mid-80s.

There is no distinction between visitors and locals in this traditional town; everyone is a member of the same community and takes care of one another. People relocate here for the way of life, to start a new company, to be near the coast, and to enjoy a tranquil, stress-free existence in the midst of nature.

2. The Pacific Coast

The Pacific Riviera of Panama features a resort-style beach with clear seas and beautiful sand. This Pacific Coast beach corridor is located just outside of Panama City. There are many different hotel alternatives, ranging from budget to opulent and all-inclusive. Pacific Riviera, which combines mountain life with weekend exploration, is adjacent to Anton Valley.

3. Panama’s Coronado Beach

Enjoy opulent lodging with pool access at one of the region’s all-inclusive resorts in Bijao, Playa Blanca, Farallón, or Buenaventura. You may practice kitesurfing and surfing at Chame or El Palmar, which are more residential areas. Coronado, the first vacation residential neighborhood built along Panama’s Pacific Riviera, has evolved into the hub of a rapidly expanding region of the country. There are hotels, restaurants, a private clinic, supermarkets, saloons, shops, hardware stores, and more in the seaside town of Coronado.

Due to the fact that most visitors to the Pacific Riviera just stay for the weekend to enjoy the beach, it may not seem like a full-time community. This location is perfect for a peaceful and secluded beach retirement. Given that it is just one to two and a half hours by vehicle, depending on the beach you select, from the capital city, it is one of the most popular beachfront real estate places in Panama. Golf, boating, fishing, snorkeling, biking, horseback riding, beach volleyball, and surfing are more activities available.

4. Bocas del Toro

Panama’s Bocas del Toro offers oceanfront real estate in the classic Caribbean design. It is made up of a string of Caribbean Sea islands. Bocas Town, commonly known as Colón Island, is a wonderful location to call home. It’s a great spot to retire or start a small company since there is a lot of tourism and a nice diversity of expats and tourists. You may enjoy fishing, surfing, snorkeling, or just stroll through Bocas Town and take in the local culture. You’ll need to go back to Bocas Town for food and ATMs if you decide to reside on another island for more seclusion and peace. Numerous beaches, including Playa Estrella and Playa Bluff, which are excellent for surfing, are accessible from Bocas Town. Take a 20-minute water taxi ride or an hour-long bike ride through the town to reach to Playa Bluff.

5. The island of Taboga

The Pacific Ocean’s tiny volcanic island of Taboga is also referred to as the “Island of Flowers” because of its lush vegetation. The boat voyage to this island from Panama City takes 30 minutes. Remember that living on an island could result in higher costs. There are 2,000 people living on the island. Because it is a tiny town, everyone knows one another and looks out for one another. A close-knit expat community exists as well. You may take wonderful hiking paths up and down the hills along the shore while taking leisurely strolls through the island’s vegetation. You may take use of the beach, go swimming, snorkeling, diving, and more.

A boat and the local airline Air Panama both provide service to this island. 13 stunning sand beaches, blue water, coral reefs, and consistent sea breezes can be found at Contadora. A variety of fish and aquatic life are all around it. One of the top locations in Panama for deep sea fishing, Contadora also provides some of the greatest beachfront properties for seeing humpback whales up close throughout their migration over the Pacific Ocean from July to October. Paddle boarding, windsurfing, rowing, and snorkeling are some of the sports available on the island. All year round, temperatures range from 74 to 89 degrees Fahrenheit.
