The Rooms

All of the rooms have marble flooring and a marble bathtub, adding a touch of luxury. Additionally, purified tap water is available and feather pillows can be requested. Families can choose to book a spacious three-story, three-bedroom villa package that offers over 2,000 square feet of living space. Each villa comes with a full kitchen, living and dining areas, and a terrace that opens up to the garden and pool area.

Each of the three bedrooms has its own private bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have king size beds and the third bedroom has two twin beds. Guests can choose between an ocean view or a lagoon view room.

The facilities include cribs, a kids club, a children’s pool, a large hot tub, babysitting services, a spa, a fitness center, and tennis courts. They also offer WiFi. While Omni Hotels provide guests with free WiFi, the signal strength may not always be reliable in every room. Cribs available on request.

Kids Club

If you’re interested in the Kids’ Club, please note that it’s geared towards children between the ages of 5 and 12. The club is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day and includes a playroom, art center, and three Wii systems. There are daily activities like shell collecting and painting. Additionally, the staff hosts a Kids’ Party by the main pool on Sundays which is an all-afternoon event with games, activities, and a pinata.

Children’s Pool

If there are any non-swimmers in your family, you’ll be glad to know that there are two pools available. One is a children’s splash pool and has a depth of 1.47 feet. The other pool is deeper at 3.7 feet. The kids’ pool features fun fountains for playing while the main pool has staff who organize games with prizes that everyone in the family can join.

Omni Cancun features a 35-person whirlpool hot tub in addition to the three cascading pools and a separate pool for children.

Spa

You can enjoy a massage or facial treatment at the spa in Omni. Another option is to visit the mint-scented steam room for a refreshing experience.

You can continue your fitness routine in the hotel’s Cybex fitness center, which is open until 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends.

You can use the tennis court and equipment for free during the day if you make a reservation in advance. However, if you want to play after dark, you will need to book the lighted tennis court for $25 per hour. Additionally, you can take lessons from professional instructors for a fee of $55, but you must notify them 24 hours in advance.

Family Activities

We offer a gameroom/arcade for kids, supervised activities, a turtle program, and access to the beach.

The Beach

The hotel is located just a few steps away from the white-sand beach with calm, turquoise waters of the ocean. The loungers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the hotel also provides a drinks service.

Things to Do

Omni Cancun provides a diverse range of activities at the poolside that are perfect for parents with older kids who can swim independently. You can relax on your chaise longue and indulge in services like hair braiding, henna tattoos, and spa massages. Plus, you can unleash your adventurous side by exploring dance lessons. For fitness enthusiasts, there are aqua exercise classes and SCUBA lessons taking place regularly at the main pool. Additionally, the resort has various facilities including volleyball and tennis courts, and a nine-hole golf course if you want to explore away from the pools.

The resort offers various options for those who prefer less physically demanding activities, like taking Spanish lessons or participating in trivia quizzes. For parents who want to use the babysitting service, the Lobby Bar is an excellent option in the evenings, as it provides a welcoming ambiance and a Martini menu and beer  with live music. The main pool features a swim-up bar, and guests can also enjoy a drink on the beach while sitting on a swing under the sun.

There are coffee shops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance of the resort, but downtown Cancun is a 30-minute drive from here.

Restaurants and Dining

At Omni Cancun, the room rate includes all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), all drinks served by the glass, and snacks. Guests can also use room service for an additional $5 delivery fee.

Om has eight restaurants, one of which is exclusively for adults. The rest of the restaurants welcome children and offer kid’s menus and crayons. La Paloma provides themed entertainment and a menu that changes every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is an international buffet as well as a la carte options. Da Vinci restaurant is an upscale Italian eatery exclusively for adults, and prior reservations are necessary.

For breathtaking sunset views over the water, visit La Vista. Omni offers casual breakfast and lunch choices at Pina Colada, but after 5 p.m. it becomes La Piña Grill with an Indonesian theme and elegant resort attire is needed.

At Viva México, a lunch spot filled with fun, families can enjoy authentic Mexican dishes while creating crafts. For those who may prefer American-style food, there are also burgers and hot dogs to choose from.

Wheelchair Accessibility

The resort has three swimming pools that are easily accessible for all guests because they have zero-grade entry. The pools and hot tubs also have lifts. They have handicapped-accessible rooms available that have seats in the shower and tub. The entire resort has ramps and elevators where needed to make it wheelchair-friendly.

What We Didn’t Like

  • It can be difficult to find Wi-Fi in some guest rooms.
  • It may also be challenging to secure a lounge chair.
  • Additionally, there is a $5 fee for room service delivery.

Bottom Line: Omni Cancun

If you’re looking for a calm and luxurious vacation in Cancun with your family, you should consider staying at this resort. The villas are perfect for bigger families who want to have some privacy and distance from other guests. Moreover, ordering room service and spending quality time together in the cozy living room is a great way to unwind.

Although you may not be interested in the villas, the regular rooms are also nicely furnished and feature luxurious marble bathtubs. This resort does not feature any noisy nightclubs, which can be a desirable feature for tired parents in need of a relaxing vacation. The resort offers a variety of activities during the day and ample opportunities for families to spend time together or separately.

Be aware of additional charges like the delivery fee for room service since this is a “cash-free resort.” It may be simple to overlook these small fees that can add up to a large bill at the conclusion of your stay. Fortunately, most activities are included. Be cautious of Omni Vacation Club time-share representatives who are on the lookout for interested guests. Don’t get trapped unless you’re sincerely interested. Overall, this resort is truly inviting, tranquil, and great for families with children who want to unwind and bond in the sunshine.

Traveling to 🇲🇽 Mexico soon?

I recommend these travel resources for Mexico that I personally use:

🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Mexico. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!

✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.

🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.

🚙 Cancun Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.

🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.

🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.

📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.

☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
