Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort - An Honest Review

Table of Contents

The Ambience

The ambiance is characterized by minimalist white decor combined with elements of Greek architecture. Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort follows the typical style of the island’s resorts by using Cycladic architecture characterized by cube-shaped, white-painted buildings. The lobby has plenty of natural light and bright walls. There’s a living room area with deep-white sofas and a wooden four-poster day bed with striped throw pillows. Beige upholstered benches and a gray shag rug add warmth to the room.

The romantic atmosphere is enhanced by black trays hanging from the ceiling with white pillar candles. The lobby also offers views of the Aegean Sea through some of its windows.

 The Rooms

The hotel offers modern rooms and suites with balconies or terraces and stunning views overlooking the Aegean Sea. At Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort, the Garden View Rooms on the first floor are the most affordable option. They come with terraces. As you move up in price, you get more amenities.

The Sea View Rooms are more lavish and have stunning views of the Aegean Sea, white Greek marble, and a Myconian arch that separates the living area and bedroom. The Premium and Superior Sea View Rooms, come with large bathrooms that have egg-shaped soaking tubs, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and steam rooms in the superior option.

The grand suite is luxurious and has a stunning view of the Aegean. It has an infinity swimming pool, an outdoor barbecue and shower, white Dionysos marble floors, and an indoor hot tub, giving it a modern and high-end feel that reminds you of music videos.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that some previous guests have experienced privacy issues because of the thin walls and the balconies that overlook each other.

Features

The amenities include access to a private beach, a spa with a fitness center, multiple restaurants, a swimming pool, a hot tub, and more. Guests usually come to Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort for a beach vacation and tend to stay on the property throughout their stay.

The resort features a spacious and stylish outdoor swimming pool and a terraced deck that offers a hot tub with panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and Delos Island. Sunbeds, loungers, towels, and complimentary ice cream are all available by the pool or on Shirley Valentine Beach, along with poolside drink service.

This stretch of sand is smaller compared to others in Mykonos, but it’s peaceful and private. Although the spa offers natural and traditional treatments, it doesn’t have saltwater therapy treatments that are popular in Mykonos Island.

The island has a great fitness center and offers tennis and squash courts. Additionally, guests can privately arrange for yoga or Pilates classes in the stone-built amphitheater. Two on-site restaurants serve Mediterranean cuisine, and guests can enjoy a free breakfast. The White Bar provides seating options in the lobby or on the terrace with stunning views of the sunset over the water.

Bottom Line

The Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort is a high-end hotel with modern design and amenities that are similar to other expensive hotels, such as a stylish outdoor pool, beach facilities, restaurants, and a spa. The two-bedroom suites come with private pools and telescopes for stargazing.

Other guest rooms have simple décor and outdoor balconies, which may not be very private. The hotel’s beach is small but beautiful, and only hotel guests can use lounge chairs. However, the beach has some pebbles. Check also Manoulas Beach Resort and Grecotel Blu Hotel in Mykonos.

Traveling to 🇬🇷 Greece soon?

I recommend these travel resources for Greece that I personally use:

🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Greece. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!

✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Greece, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.

🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.

🚙 Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer from the airport and beetween destinations with Welcome Pickups. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.

🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Greece, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.

🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Greece. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.

📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.

☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
