How to get to Imerovigli?
There are two ways to get to Imerovigli from anywhere in Greece:
1. By boat
Ferries are the most common way to get to and from Greek islands such as Athens, Crete, Mykonos, and others. While the traditional ferry trip takes anywhere between 6-8 hours, you can shave off some time if you invest in high-speed ferries, which complete the journey in 4-5 hours. Bear in mind, though, that high-speed ferries charge an arm and a leg in ticket prices. The Best Way to search ferry tickets and itineraries for visiting Greek Islands is FerryHopper
2. By air
Year-round, international flights from Athens can be found at the Santorini Airport. During peak season, Aegean Air and Ryan Air offer regular routes to this destination, with Volotea joining them for extra convenience.

2. Admire the breathtaking vistas
Perched atop the island’s highest peak, Imerovigli offers stunning views of Santorini’s iconic volcano, crystal-clear Aegean waters, and neighboring villages.
You’ll also get a sweeping 360-degree panoramic view of the dramatic Santorini landscape, encompassing both Thira and Skaros Rock.
3. Walk the path from Fira to Imerovigli
It’s incredibly picturesque, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The entire journey takes 35 minutes if you’re in a hurry, but you may find yourself taking more time depending on how many stops are made.
Meander through Firostefani and Fira for an unforgettable experience of charming establishments, such as hotels, restaurants, picturesque homes, and churches. Then take the path that allows you to marvel at magnificent caldera vistas – in particular, from Firostefani to Fira, where one can relish majestic views of the Caldera throughout their journey!
4. Hike Skaros Rock
If you’re looking for a genuinely daring experience while in Imerovigli, then climbing Skaros Rock should be at top of your priorities. This massive precipice sits at the seaside of the village, where it was forged by volcanic eruptions and years of erosion.
Although numerous eruptions and severe earthquakes have weakened the historical Venetian fortress to only a few ruins, you can still hike up Skaros Rock for stunning views. The simple adventure takes just 20-30 minutes (each way) and is suitable for all ages.
Pro Tip: Make sure to bring your hat, shades, water bottle, sunblock, and hiking shoes when scaling Skaros Rock.

5. Enjoy infinity pools
Infinity pools in Santorini are swimming pools that are designed in a way that makes them appear as if they merge seamlessly with the surrounding sea or sky. They are typically built on the edge of a cliff, giving visitors a stunning view of the Aegean Sea and the unique Santorini sunset.
The illusion of an infinity pool is created by designing the pool with a raised edge that overflows with water, making it seem as though the pool has no boundary. The result is a breathtaking view that can be enjoyed while swimming, lounging, or sipping a drink at the poolside.
6. Dine at La Maison
When visiting Imerovigli last summer, I had the opportunity to experience the beauty of La Maison’s drinks at sunset and the dinner menu. The cherry on top was the backdrop of the mesmerizing Aegean Sea.
The Duck orange miso dish is served with potato miso gnocchi and leeks in a duck jus reduction enhanced by the addition of oranges, paired perfectly with a glass of Santorini wine.
For those looking for an elevated experience, the restaurant offers degustation menu options consisting of 6 courses at €140 or €160 when coupled with their curated selection of wines.
Pro Tip:To get the full experience of La Maison, we highly recommend making a reservation. It is one of the top restaurants in Imerovigli, and you won’t regret dining here!
7. Watch the sunset
One of the reasons why the sunsets in Imerovigli are so special is because of the village’s location on the edge of a cliff. The stunning views of the Aegean Sea, the surrounding Caldera, and the white-washed buildings of the village make for a truly breathtaking sight.
As the sun begins to set, the orange and pink hues cast a warm glow over the landscape, creating an almost ethereal atmosphere.

Here are a few of the many places you can stay in Imerovigli:
I recommend these travel resources for Greece that I personally use:
🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Greece. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!
✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Greece, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.
🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.
🚙 Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer from the airport and beetween destinations with Welcome Pickups. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.
🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Greece, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.
🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Greece. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.
📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.
☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
