Grand Oasis Cancun - An Honest Review

Grand Oasis Cancun, Mexico

Grand Oasis has three different buildings to choose from, each with a distinct atmosphere. We opted to stay at the pyramid. The hotel lobby featured hanging plants, exotic gardens, and a simple Mexican style and decor. Once we arrived, our first goal was to locate a bar. We found the beach bar which was a charming little hut with a view overlooking the ocean. Above the bar was the “fun pool.”

The Amenities

When you think of Spring Break in Mexico, this is the typical scene that comes to mind: a swim-up bar surrounded by lots of people, with DJ-hosted drinking challenges. Initially, we thought this was the only pool, but we were mistaken! In fact, there were over 5 different pools to choose from.

Once we discovered them all, we settled into a routine where we would spend our mornings lounging by the “classy pool” (which had fantastic cushioned chairs), and then head to the “fun pool” when we were ready to let loose!

The Beach

The crystal-clear blue water in Cancun was absolutely stunning and it has changed my perception of the water back home. We spent some relaxed afternoons at the beach, where we had the option to rent small bungalows and lounge under them.

I recently went on my first all-inclusive vacation and it was totally worth it. Unlimited drinks and food made the experience even better. The only downside was trying to fit into a bikini after indulging at the buffet all week. Thankfully, one-piece swimsuits are making a comeback.

The Restaurants

There were a lot of restaurants available and it was difficult to choose. However, there were a variety of options to select from, including Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Steak House, another Mexican, or International cuisine. Our preferred restaurants were Hippie Chic Grill for lunch and Rodizzi Steak House for dinner. At Rodizzi, the steak was chopped right in front of us, and there was an extensive selection of side dishes available in the buffet.

Bottom Line – Grand Oasis Cancun

We had an amazing time in Cancun celebrating our four years together and making new friends. Leaving was difficult because of how wonderful it was. We’ll definitely return in the future. However, we may need to wait a while since we had an amazing time.

Traveling to 🇲🇽 Mexico soon?

I recommend these travel resources for Mexico that I personally use:

🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Mexico. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!

✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.

🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.

🚙 Cancun Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.

🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.

🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.

📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.

☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
