11 Best Tulum Music Festivals in 2023-2024

Aside from its breathtaking beaches, awe-inspiring cenotes, and picturesque jungle, Tulum is renowned for its music festivals – something that appeals to every fan of electronic music. From Deep House to Techno and Progressive to Electro, the range of styles on offer guarantees a memorable experience for all who visit!

Although Tulum has been a hot destination for music events in recent years, especially during the global pandemic, there has unfortunately been a dip in new events due to cancellations such as Departure just last January.

As you can see, we have included events from both Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, as these cities are only a short drive away (45 minutes to an hour and a half). Therefore, it would be foolish not to include them on our list!

Final Thoughts on Festivals in Tulum

When selecting a festival, music should not be the sole factor in your decision. The influence that festivals have on small towns like Tulum is substantial – they can bring economic growth with inflows of capital through tourism but also cause environmental harm if managed improperly.

If you want to be a exemplary festival attendee, here are some top-notch tips and tricks to follow::

  • By properly disposing of waste and recycling when feasible, we can make a positive impact on the environment.
  • There’s no better way to get the most out of your international journey than by equipping yourself with even a basic knowledge of the local language. Brush up on your Spanish before you set off and explore!
  • While traveling, invest in your local community by supporting and buying from small businesses.

When selecting a festival in Tulum or around Mexico, think about the community and environmental effect of its organizers:

  • Are there avenues to gain insight into the Mayan civilization directly from indigenous inhabitants?
  • Are locals hired by the festival?
  • What initiatives is the festival taking to reduce its environmental impact?

As we move into a more sustainable and conscious era, many festivals (like Day Zero) are becoming increasingly aware of their environmental impact. It’s so easy to be an eco-friendly traveler these days; simply do some research on the festival website before you begin your journey! Let’s all work together to create a better tomorrow – party responsibly!

Embark on the journey of a lifetime and experience the sights, sounds, and culture at an unforgettable Tulum music festival!

Traveling to 🇲🇽 Mexico soon?

I recommend these travel resources for Mexico that I personally use:

🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Mexico. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!

✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.

🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.

🚙 Cancun Airport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.

🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.

🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.

📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.

☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
