Picture yourself playing watersports on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Or imagine dancing until the early hours of the morning. Or perhaps you want to watch your favorite sports team on TV. Whatever it’s you’re planning to do in Cancun at night, its nightclubs have you sorted.
This might surprise anyone who has read tourist guides about Cancun. Millions of people visit Mexico‘s party capital to explore its white sandy beaches, all-inclusive resorts, and tropical climate. But if you want to add some extra oomph to your trip, explore Cancun’s nightlife.
Coco Bongo is a dance club that lacks a dedicated dance floor. You read it right. The place is so jam-packed every night that people move their bodies wherever they can find a little space. So you should only visit this place if you can easily jam up with the crowds.
Amazing Shows at Coco Bongo Club Cancun
Coco Bongo delights its visitors with themed performances of the Mask, concerts by live bands, and much more. Plus, with its multi-level screen and a screen that couldn’t be any bigger, you won’t have to be on your toes to take in the adrenaline-pumping shows.
Coco Bongo Cancun
One thing that might surprise you about Coco Bongo is that it isn’t only the visitors that will be dancing. Depending on their mood, wait staff and even bartenders may take the stage. Small wonder, then, Coco Bongo is Cancun’s self-described favorite nightclub.
Visitors to Monkey Business wax lyrical about three things. The first of which is the place’s excellent food, which is based on a cuisine comprising Mexican and international dishes. Whether you like pasta or hamburger, Monkey Business will delight your taste buds.
Next on the list is the live performances. Every night the place invites a rock band from Mexico and abroad to delight its customers. However, if you’ve grown tired of hearing and want to join in on the fun, a karaoke machine will let you showcase your talents to the world.
Best of all, the place is decorated with lots of ‘Instagrammable’ places. So make sure to charge your phone to 100% before setting food inside Monkey Business.
Congo Bar Cancun shows that you don’t have to visit a big club to have some fun. A water-down version of our top pick, this bar has almost everything to delight partygoers. These include live music, themed performances, go-go dancers on platforms, and much more.
Congo Bar Cancun
Another exciting thing about Congo bar is that it’s open on both sides. That means you can see whether the place is bouncing or not even before you’ve paid the entry fee. Which isn’t that much (on my last trip there, I only paid $40 for shows, drinks, and a snack).
Which seems like a bargain when you look at the drinks on offer. Apart from the drinks and cocktails, the place lets you order punches and rum-based cocktails. Throw its Caribbean-style décor into the mix, and the bar has every reason to raise the entry fee.
Best Clubs in Cancun : The City Nightclub Cancun
4. The City Nightclub Cancun
Price: $$$
Main Attractions: Performances by celebrity DJs; one of the largest clubs in Latin America
What is common between Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent? Apart from the fact that all of them are celebrity DJs, another thing that unites them is that all of them have spun their music inside The City Club. So do the likes of Akon, Flo Rida, and Fergi.
The City Nightclub Cancun
Given that the place attracts such huge names, it shouldn’t be a surprise to note that it attracts crowds in the thousands. Fortunately, it has enough space to house them all. With a space of more than 650 square feet, The City Club can host over 5,000 people.
Provided you can get past the incredibly long lines on entry, The City will let you purchase a wristband (using which you can get unlimited cocktails inside) or full bottle service.
Do you want to enjoy your favorite cocktail while taking in stunning views of the Caribbean Sea? High-end amenities such as live DJs, gourmet cuisine, and a VIP experience? If so, make sure to visit HRoof on your next trip to Cancun.
Located on the rooftop of the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, this place is very easy to visit, regardless of whether you’re on Uber or foot. Guests with deep pockets can take advantage of the private cabanas and a dedicated staff that will be at their beck and call at all times.
Provided it’s your lucky day, a celebrity might be in attendance. Locals around this bar joke that the club is only second to Cancun’s beaches in attracting Hollywood superstars. So, if you have a knack for celebrity spotting and want to socialize with the famous, pay HRoof a visit.
Enter for the party atmosphere and stay for the special theme nights. Renowned for its wild party atmosphere, La Vaquita is one of the major attraction points for tourists who love nothing else than dancing like crazy until the wee hours of the early morning.
Best Bars in Cancun: La Vaquita
However, if you ask regular visitors, it’s La Vaquita’s nights that have made it a major player in Cancun’s club scene. These are nights in which guests are entertained by specific music genres or themes so that they can have a baller of a time inside the premises.
La Vaquita Bar Cancun
For instance, the club regularly organizes “Electro Party,” an event in which the tunes of electro music entertain guests. Similarly, “La Vaquita & Friends” where local DJs enthrall the club’s guests with their fun and lively renditions of popular songs.
Mandala Beach Club Cancun
7. Mandala Beach Club
Price: $$$
Main Attractions: Stunning views of the Caribbean Sea from the rooftop; performances by celebrity DJs on select nights
Given its location on the edge of the Caribbean Sea, it should surprise nobody that the Mandala Beach Club is famous for its party atmosphere. That said, you should still visit this place if you like nothing more than relaxing and taking your time in the sun.
Its main attraction is the ‘Tuesday Beach Nights Under The Stars,’ where the club invites celebrity DJs from all over the world to entertain its visitors. As you might guess, these nights attract large crowds, so getting your ticket in advance won’t be the worst decision you’ll ever make.
Make sure to purchase the club’s exclusive VIP pass if you can afford to spend a little over the top. This pass will give you a front-row place to everything that makes this place uber-energetic.
Flashing strobe lights that will most likely blind your eyes if you look at their source for too long? Check. Heart-pounding music that won’t let you stay seated for long? Yup. Drink specials that will force you to get drunk even if you’re a teetotaler? Absolutely.
Small wonder, then, that Barezzito Puerto Cancun attracts such big crowds on an almost daily basis. If you can make do with loud music and have the energy to participate in drink specials, the place is a must-visit, especially on weekends when the crowds tend to be a little younger.
However, if you just want to hear the music but have no intention of joining in on the fun, the outside terrace should be where you at. An expert tip: if you’re a female, make sure to check their Facebook page for Women’s night, when the house offers free drinks to all the ladies.
Senor Frogs is a bar and restaurant that changes its atmosphere every 12 hours. Visit this place early in the morning, and you’d meet a family-friendly and laid-back atmosphere. Wait till 9 in the evening, and you won’t recognize it if you have only seen its ‘day’ version.
Senor Frogs Cancun
From balloons to confetti and live performances to Conga lines, Senor Frogs has everything to justify the statement hanging on its entry wall (‘Saving the World from Boredom’). The place’s uber-energetic staff also deserves the credit for helping everyone to have a blast.
If you like singing along to your favorite songs, make sure to visit the place on Karaoke nights, where a live band will accompany you as you let the world know of your singing talents.
10. Mambo Café
Price: $$
Main Attractions: Live band performances; sexy dancers; great food
Dishes that will delight your taste buds. Eye-popping performances by sex dancers. An entry fee that won’t blow a hole in your pocket. Not many clubs in Cancun can claim to have all three. That Mambo Café does is the reason why it’s on our list of must-visit clubs in the city.
Upon your entry to the club, you’ll be seated at a place not far from the stage (the club isn’t as spacious as some of the other names on this list). Once seated, you can order food prepared by the club’s celebrity chef or take in live music while sipping your favorite drink.
Provided you have entered the place in the first hour of its opening, it’s likely that you’d be witness to the moment when the live band amps up the atmosphere. This will turn the already electric place into a salsa dance party venue, letting you know that you’re in Mexico’s party capital.
11. Chicabal Sunset Club
Price: $$$$
Main Attractions: Yacht chartering service; great food
Chichabal Sunset Club justifies its name with the amenities on offer. Visitors to this place are allowed to join a yacht trip to Chicabal Lagoon, from where they can take in the sunset. Which other nightclub in the world can claim to offer this service?
While most people will appreciate the idea of chartering a yacht, the partygoers may not like this place’s laid-back atmosphere. That said, if you enjoy the early morning sun, great food, and a night of music and entertainment, Chicabal Sunset Club won’t disappoint.
Traveling to 🇲🇽 Mexico soon?
I recommend these travel resources for Mexico that I personally use:
🏨 Hotels: I have found that Expedia and Booking.com consistently have the best deals on hotels and resorts in Mexico. If you prefer to stay at a vacation rental, check VRBO that is usually cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!
✈️ Flights: To find the best flight deals to Mexico, I always use Kayak. Remember to subscribe to their price alerts for the travel dates you want. Another great alternative for flight deals is Expedia.
🚗 Rental Cars: I always use and highly recommend Discover Cars because it allows me to compare several car rental companies and view ratings on various factors such as overall value, pick-up procedure, agent efficiency, car condition, and total time taken.
🚙 CancunAirport Transportation: For the fastest and easiest way to travel, I suggest arranging a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation. Honestly, no better way to travel from the airport to your hotel or resort.
🤿 Tours & Activities: For tours and activities in Mexico, I highly recommend using either Viator or GetYourGuide. These websites offer a full refund if you cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the tour, and they also provide excellent customer service in case of any issues.
🚨 Travel Insurance: I always suggest purchasing travel insurance as a precaution before traveling, especially after a recent accident in a taxi in Mexico. For short trips, I recommend Travel Insurance Master, whereas for digital nomads, Safety Wing is a better option.
📷 Best Camera for your trip: I always carry with me a GoPro, It’s light, compact, takes great video and pictures, and most importantly, it’s waterproof! You just can’t go wrong with one. If you are interested in higher quality video and photography, I always carry with me on my trips and highly recommend the Sony A7IV which I think is the best travel DSLR Camera out there.
☀️ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Remember to include a good sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer sun. I always use and suggest Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is vegan, reef-friendly, and cruelty-free.
