Be Tulum Review

Be Tulum is an eco-chic destination that is popular with celebrities. The glamorously designed suites feature plunge pools or Jacuzzi bathrooms, with some also having rooftop terraces and pools. In addition to a delightful restaurant, there is also an excellent spa on-site. For those looking for high-tech amenities in Tulum, Be Tulum a new wave of design hotels in the bohemian beach town. Despite being a place where hot showers were once a luxury, Be Tulum now offers air conditioning, Jacuzzi tubs, and glamorous rooftop plunge pools.

Be Tulum has many attractive features that may entice you to leave your stylish room. The beach is stunning, and the vistas of the Caribbean will remain unforgettable. There’s nothing better than enjoying the oceanfront pool with its glass wall for added awe or dozing off on one of the king-sized daybeds located on the beach.

Be Tulum is situated in the southernmost part of Tulum’s beach zone, near the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve entrance. Although it’s a quieter location, there are many exciting amenities available at this resort, including a trendy restaurant and beach bar that sometimes features live music perfomances, as well as a variety of spa services.

Room

Taxis are readily available on the Boca Paila road, making it easy to travel to the numerous great restaurants on the beach or in town. If you plan to do a lot of sightseeing, we recommend renting a car (Be provides a parking lot across the street). Check our room guide for an overview of the various suite types. The two Beach Suites are highly coveted because of their fantastic rooftop plunge pools and might be ideal for honeymooners. However, we would be content to relax in any of the Jungle or Arena suites for a few days.

Please be aware that Be Tulum is a property exclusively for adults and most rooms have one king-size bed. If you’re searching for a room in Tulum that will leave you impressed, look no further! These modern and stunning suites may seem out of place in the bohemian environment of Tulum, but they provide luxuries that are difficult to find elsewhere in the beach area.

The suites are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and constant electricity. Other amenities include electrical outlets, iPod docking stations, room safes, bathrobes, and high-quality light duvets with 300 threadcount cotton sheets. However, the property’s wireless internet signal strength varies, and hairdryer use is discouraged due to its heavy power usage from the generator.

If you’re wondering which room type to choose, the only difference between the Jungle and Arena suites is their location. The Jungle Suites are located at the back of the property, while the Arena Suites are closer to the beach. All of the ground level Jungle and Arena suites have a plunge pool, and all of the upper level Jungle and Arena suites have a Jacuzzi tub. Both types of suites offer views of the lush gardens, but please note that even the Arena suites do not have an ocean view.

If you’re looking for the ultimate indulgence, consider booking one of our two Beach Suites. These suites are located on the top floor of the two buildings closest to the beach, and offer stunning views of the Caribbean. What’s more, each suite comes equipped with a Jacuzzi tub for maximum relaxation. And if that weren’t enough, the rooftop terrace also boasts a glass-sided infinity plunge pool. Finally, be sure not to miss the spectacular sunset views over the nearby jungle.

Style and Character

The pathways in the jungle are filled with the scent of copal smoke from Mayan tree resin, and the cabins are made of recycled train tracks with a dark wood coating. The common areas are decorated with colorful and stylish accents such as bird’s nest lampshades and vibrant cushions. The beachfront area includes palapas, beds and turtle statues. The staff are young and wear flowing outfits resembling Jedi robes, dresses, and pyjamas. However, some might find that the focus on aesthetics can overshadow other elements of the experience.

All Suites

The room amenities include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, 24-hour electricity, electrical outlets, iPod docking stations, and a room safe.

Jungle Suite

Do you prefer a room with a king bed or two queen beds? Most of our rooms have a king bed. Additionally, ground floor rooms have plunge pools while upper level rooms have Jacuzzi tubs.

Arena Suite

The room is similar to the Jungle Suite, but located closer to the beach. You can choose a ground floor room with a plunge pool or an upper level room with a Jacuzzi tub.

Beach Suite

The room features a king bed and is located on the second floor. There is a Jacuzzi tub inside the room and a rooftop terrace with an infinity plunge pool. At Be Tulum, the Jungle and Arena suites are similar except for their location – Jungle suites are further back while Arena suites are closer to the beach. Both suites are in a two-story building and the upper level rooms have Jacuzzi tubs while the ground floor rooms have plunge pools.

These photos depict the Jungle suite on the upper level.

The Arena suites on the upper level have the same amenities and design but are situated elsewhere. Most of the suites contain a single king bed, with only one Arena suite and three Jungle suites featuring two queen beds. Choosing a second floor suite provides more privacy than choosing a ground floor suite. The suite comes with a circular Jacuzzi tub and a high palapa roof, which add to the allure. A private balcony with outdoor seating and indoor and outdoor showers are also available in all suites.

Restaurants

At Be Tulum, you can have a wonderful day starting with breakfast at 8:00am by the beach. You can enjoy the beautiful Caribbean sea while the waiter serves you a continental breakfast including coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, croissants, rolls, and muffins. You can also check the menu for more options like fruit smoothies, granola and yogurt or eggs benedict.

Spend some time relaxing on the beach and then head to the second floor bar and lounge for a cold beer or a snack like ceviche, aguachile, or a sandwich. After some rest or swimming, go back to your room to change for dinner. Watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail, then enjoy a delicious meal at Be’s restaurant. Their menu includes options like tuna with a jalapeno sauce, fillet mignon, or tagliatelle with shrimp. After dinner, head to the upper level bar for live music and drinks with other guests. Life on the beach is relaxing and enjoyable!

Beach

Be Tulum is located at the southern end of Tulum’s beach area, in close proximity to the Biosphere Reserve. The beaches in this area are serene, untouched, and exceptionally wide. You can take long walks in either direction and enjoy the breathtaking views.

At Be Tulum, guests can unwind on the day beds that come with palapa shades. During our last stay, we noticed that there were 15 day beds available for the 20 rooms in the hotel, as well as other beach chairs. Rest assured, you’ll have plenty of options to relax here no matter what time of day you arrive.

The Pool

Be Tulum has a beautiful swimming pool located just behind the beach. You can enjoy swimming while watching the waves. The pool has a glass side that lets you appreciate the stunning scenery while underwater. The pool area offers plenty of space to relax, and you can sit on comfortable and colorful armchairs. The bar is next to the pool, so you can easily order a refreshing cold drink.

Service and Facilities

The quality of service is inconsistent. Though most of the waiters are friendly and efficient, some delays may occur in getting a menu or fulfilling coffee orders. Also, the staff at the entrance and reception should be more welcoming. Similarly, the waiters at the Ocumare restaurant could also be more friendly, as their attitude adds an impersonal and sullen atmosphere to the signature restaurant.

The staff and facilities at Yäan Wellness Spa are exceptional.

They offer a unique ‘water circuit’ which includes showers, pools, sauna, and a steam room.

There are also modern cabins for treatments provided by expert therapists, such as the intense Sobada Maya, which involves stretching and a firm massage with a Mayan influence. Yäan Wellness Spa also has two beautiful infinity pools, daily yoga and meditation classes, as well as bikes, SUP-boards, and snorkelling gear available for use.
